Prodi's victory important for Europe, says Belgium's Verhofstadt
"The election results do not just concern Italy," said Belgian Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt in a statement Tuesday, just minutes after the results became clear. Verhofstadt gave an unusually frank and rapid show of support for former European Commission President Romano Prodi as opposed to current Italian Prime Minister Umberto Berlusconi.
